Maurice van Schoonhoven (1984) is a pianist known for his expressive artistry and refined technique. He studied with Bernd Brackman in Amsterdam, Maria João Pires in Portugal, and Elena Richter in Berlin, former assistant to the legendary Heinrich Neuhaus. He also took masterclasses with Jan Wijn, Mikhail Voskresensky, Emanuel Ax, Wibi Soerjadi, Stephen Kovacevich, and Leslie Howard.

His musicianship has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including first prizes at the Rotterdamse Pianodriedaagse (2001), Königin Sophie Charlotte Concours (2002), and Theater aan de Parade Concours (2004). He has performed extensively in the Netherlands and abroad, with highlights including Mozart’s Double Piano Concerto alongside Hannes Minnaar and Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto with the Mokum Symphony Orchestra. He also recorded a CD featuring works by Dutch composer Jan van Amerongen.

With a deep affinity for Romantic repertoire, his playing is praised for its emotional depth and tonal richness. As Leslie Howard once said:

Théotime Voisin
Double Bass

Théotime Voisin (1992) is Assistant Principal Double Bass of the Concertgebouw Orchestra since 2016 and has been teaching at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague since 2020.

​

He began playing the double bass at the age of five with Jean Ané and later studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon with Bernard Cazauran, graduating with highest honors. He continued his training with Alberto Bocini in Geneva, Rinat Ibragimov in Bern, and Božo Paradžik in Freiburg, developing a deep artistic and technical mastery of the instrument.

​

A laureate of several international competitions, including the Valentino Bucchi Competition in Rome, the Sperger Competition, and the International Society of Bassists Solo Competition, he has performed as a soloist and orchestral musician at the highest level. Before joining the Concertgebouw Orchestra, he was Principal Bass of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse and Guest Principal of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.

Dedicated to expanding the double bass repertoire, he has recorded Contre-jour, Musica francese al Contrabbasso (NBB Records) and the complete works of Bottesini for double bass and piano. In addition to his performance career, he has been involved in artistic and educational projects worldwide, including a fundraising tour in Ecuador in 2011, where he gave concerts and masterclasses to support children with cancer.
